According to Deontay Wilder, Joshua’s management “purchased” his belts, and as a consequence, Joshua wasn’t prepared for when he finally began facing quality competition when he finally started fighting quality opposition.
The statement that Wilder made about Joshua’s promoters at Matchroom purchasing his titles is comparable to what some boxing fans believe about AJ. Wilder was the previous heavyweight champion of the WBC.
They feel that AJ’s promoter Eddie cleverly managed him early on to acquire titles that he otherwise wouldn’t have had if he had fought someone excellent. If AJ had fought someone good, he wouldn’t have had those championships.
For instance, they cleared the door for Joshua to grab his first title off of Charles Martin, the vulnerable IBF champion, by promising him significant money to travel to the UK to defend against AJ. This allowed Joshua to acquire his first championship.
Wladimir Klitschko was 40 years old when he faced Anthony Joshua in 2017, and he was coming off of a year-long hiatus as well as a loss to Mike Tyson. Joshua defeated Klitschko, making him the former IBF, WBA, and WBO champion.
Some fans are under the impression that the only reason Klitschko agreed to fight Joshua was because of the significant financial reward. To put it another way, if Joshua’s real name was Joe Blow and he didn’t have many friends in high places, he never would have gotten this fight.
They fashioned Anthony Joshua into being. He was created by them. It’s not something we learn to do; it’s something we’re born to do. “Even in the Olympics, they handed him the [gold] medal,” Deontay Wilder stated in an interview on the podcast “The Last Stand.”
Deontay Wilder to Anthony Joshua

Joshua’s victory with Roberto Cammarelle, an Italian, was criticized by Wilder in their conversation about the Olympics in London in 2012. Cammarelle and Cuba’s Erislandy Savon both looked to have the upper hand on Joshua throughout the Olympic competition, and many fans felt that Joshua was unfairly robbed of his victory. In addition, Zhilei Zhang and Ivan Dychko battled Joshua until they each reached a stalemate.
“They made a significant purchase of the belts. Because of the way they handled him and the way they prepped him for particular occasions, he was not prepared for it.
“I am ready, willing, and able to help anybody. When asked whether he would be interested in fighting Joshua, Wilder said, “I still want to whoop his a**.” Joshua is currently undefeated.
“I’m not going to shortchange the fans by preventing that battle from taking place. That battle is something that I most certainly want to take place. I just want to know whether or not they are telling the truth.
If Joshua is defeated by Tyson Fury in their fight that is scheduled to take place on December 3, Wilder could as well forget about attempting to fight him since AJ would most likely retire after the fight.
Even if Joshua doesn’t retire from boxing, a bout against Wilder in the future wouldn’t be nearly as significant as it would be right now because of how much Wilder’s following has grown.
