OKBET BOXING – Today, in Japan, retired boxing greats Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. faced off against one another in front of the media. There was something peculiar about the fact that Mayweather, who is 45 years old, and Pacquiao, who is 43 years old, would just so happen to meet in Japan.
Since Mayweather has not been involved in a legitimate bout since 2017, most of the younger boxing fans have never seen him in action. To others, he is just an elderly guy who continues to participate in the sport despite the fact that he is getting on in years.
It is quite possible that this was a staged event to kick off the early promotion for an exhibition battle that will be sold to boxing fans via pay-per-view.
At this moment in time, however, it is debatable as to whether or not there is any interest among fans in watching Pacquiao and Mayweather scrap for ten to twelve rounds in the context of an exhibition bout.
The previous battle between these two boxers, which took place in 2015, was painful to watch due to Mayweather’s defensive strategy of jabbing and shifting constantly against an ailing Pacquiao. Following the bout, Pacquiao attempted to negotiate a rematch with Mayweather, but to Pacquiao’s surprise, Mayweather was not interested in a second bout.
Mayweather told the reporters that Pacquiao was standing next to him while he was giving the statement. “There is no blueprint on how to beat Floyd Mayweather; he can tell you that himself,” Mayweather stated. “No one has the game plan for beating Floyd Mayweather,” the announcer said. Don’t fall for their traps or you’ll end up getting kicked in the shins again.
“He’s older than me; I’m still young, so what I have done and accomplished in boxing is one of a kind,” Pacquiao said. “What I have done and accomplished in boxing is one of a kind.” It is a difficult accomplishment to win titles in eight different weight divisions.
It is unlikely that fans would pay to watch a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao given their respective records. After such a long time has passed since their last battle, people do not consider them to be as important as they were in the year 2015 any longer. If they went to battle right now, it would just be another battle between two old timers, which is incredibly dull.
Mayweather & Pacquiao

It would appear that Floyd Mayweather has changed his mind regarding the fact that he does not want any role in a rematch with Manny Pacquiao. Some people believe that Mayweather is yearning for a big dollar battle versus Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor since the PPV statistics for his exhibition fights have been declining. Pacquiao is currently receiving a lot of attention because Conor McGregor has already stated that he is not interested in facing Mayweather again.
Tonight in Saitama, Japan, Mayweather will be competing against Mikuru Asakura in an exhibition bout that will go for three rounds. Mayweather’s exhibition fight against Mikuru hasn’t generated much excitement among fans in the United States up until this point. Fans believe that it will be another easy victory for Mayweather, and as a result, they have no interest in purchasing the pay-per-view event.
The fact that Mayweather and Pacquiao met in Japan today may help convince some of Floyd’s more seasoned fans to pull out their wallets and buy tickets to his exhibition fight tonight. If that weren’t the case, it’s likely that very few boxing fans in the United States will be able to watch Mayweather vs. Mikuru.
In December, Pacquiao is scheduled to compete in an exhibition contest against DK Yoo, and in February, he will face Jaber Zayani.
Mayweather stated, “When we talk about what’s going on in the squared circle, there’s no one better than me.” “No matter how you rank it, no matter how you cut it, no matter how you slice it if you go back 100 years, 300 years back, to now, there’s only one best, and that’s Floyd Mayweather,” said Mayweather. “No matter how you cut it, no matter how you slice it if you go back 100 years, 300 years back, to now.”
The fact that Mayweather has referred to him as the “best” gives the impression that he is not in touch with reality. He is not the best, and if he competed against someone of the caliber of Errol Spence Jr., Jaron “Boots” Ennis, or Terence Crawford, he would be completely annihilated.
Mayweather was not a better welterweight than Sugar Ray Leonard or Tommy Hearns, who both had a larger historical footprint than Mayweather. When Floyd was fighting at 147 pounds, he avoided Pacquiao until after the Filipino had been knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez and Tim Bradley. He also faced fighters who could be beaten, for the most part, and he avoided taking any risks.
Mayweather ultimately fought Pacquiao after Pacquiao began displaying indications of slippage. However, the bout was a terrible bore, and many boxing fans felt they were cheated out of their money because of it.
